About 'The Coach'
After over 45 years working as a competitive swimming coach and swimming teacher, I've recently officially retired from my full time commitments. Having said that, it's doubtful that coaches ever fully retire. It's been more than a career, it's been a life long passion and as such I still enjoy presenting during coaching and teaching training programs. No doubt I'll still occasionally assist with coaching on the pool side from time to time too.
Over the years I've worked in 4 countries. Firstly England where I earnt my National Coach’s Certificate and Advanced Swimming Teacher’s Certificate. I was then appointed as a National Coach in Saudi Arabia. After 8 interesting years in the Middle East I emigrated to Australia and worked for several years before an opportunity in New Zealand came up. 4 years later I returned to Australia where I worked until retirement.
I have placed swimmers on the National teams and written swimming teaching curriculums in all of the countries I've worked and have gained much satisfaction along the way. Now that I have time to reflect on my career and journey I may finally have time to write some articles on swimming coaching and teaching.
